Steps to Sync outlook 2010 with Gmail

Gmail is one of the popular email services which provide large storage capacity and lots of different apps that allow you to customize the way we use Gmail. On the other hand Outlook is one of the best e-mail clients. With the use of this you can check email offline. Outlook 2010 is the recent new version of MS Outlook application and used by most of the users. Gmail support IMAP features which used in Outlook 2010 to send or receive email messages. Now besides using Outlook for your business email, you can also add your personal Gmail email and also Sync Gmail contacts outlook.

Gmail does support POP3 access through which you can read your Gmail messages offline but there is only one problem that Gmail cannot synchronize with Outlook. Whenever you delete any email from your Outlook it won't delete from Gmail or when you download any email from Gmail and marked as read, message still show status of “Unread” in your Gmail inbox. Make some correction in Gmail IMAP setting.

Settings -> Forwarding and POP/IMAP –> Checked Enable IMAP and click on Save Changes if you made any.

When you start Outlook 2010, it asks would you like to configure an email account?

Click on File tab to go to the Office Backstage view. Under Info, click on Account Setting and Add and remove accounts or change existing connection setting. In the Account setting click Add Account.

Here you have two ways to Sync outlook 2010 with Gmail---

1} By Automatically

On the Add new account screen, enter your name, email address an password twice and then click Next.

Now outlook configure email server setting.

If provided information is correct then your configuration will be successful and now you are ready to use your account.

2} Manually configuring

On Add new Account, choose Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.

Now choose Internet E-mail , option and click on next.

Now give the User information and click on More Setting.

In the Internet email setting, go to Advanced Tab and change the server Port numbers

Incoming server (IMAP) to 993 and outgoing server (SMTP) to 587

In Incoming option use SSl as encrypted connection and use TLS as encrypted connection.

Now jump to the Outgoing server and check the box My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and also choose radio button next to it - Use same settings as my incoming mail server

If you have provided everything correctly then you will successfully Sync outlook 2010 with Gmail. If there is any error then go back and check it properly or click OK and finish

If everything is Ok then you will see the congrulation window

If after trying more times you are not able to make sync, it means there is some problem with the Outlook application. May be your Outlook has been corrupted. Repair it with the use of third party PST repair tool and enjoy sync of Gmail contact and mail to outlook.
